sleepy beyond belief

I just woke up from about an hour and a half of sleep and will soon be rushing out the door to make the 11:18PM train downtown.

I have never felt this sleepy before in my entire life, and am writing this post to capture the moment.

For a moment just now I felt myself falling asleep while STANDING UP in the kitchen. The pull to crawl back into bed, or even just snooze here in my chair feels like I'm an addict being drawn to smoke crack.

This working all night business is going to take some getting used to.

I'd better go and catch my train now..

My Dad worked "third shift" when I lived at home. He still managed to be active while the family was awake by sleeping twice during the day. After supper, he would sleep from about 8pm to 10pm. Then he would get up and go to work. When he came home in the morning, he would again sleep, from about 7am to around 1pm. Don't know if that'll work for you, but it worked for him for over 20 years!
I've been trying to train myself to go to sleep first thing when I get home in the morning. It certainly seems possible on the trainride home, when I am fighting to stay awake and not miss my stop. But once I emerge from my station into the daytime sunshine my body does a 180 and refuses to be sleepy. The earliest I've been able to pass out lately has been around 1:00PM, which gives me about 3 1/2 hours of shut eye before it's time to cook dinner. I sometimes am able to get in another hour before I have to leave for work that night.
I plan on catching up on all my missed sleep on weekends, and when I retire someday.
